The unique way the Volt is powered is primarily what sets it apart from all other vehicles. The new 2012 Volt runs primarily on an electric drive unit powered by a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. This battery includes a liquid thermal management system with active control and outputs 149 horsepower. If you happen to be driving further than usual, the Volt flawlessly switches to its 1.4-liter internal combustion gas engine to get you where you need to go. In order to re-charge the battery, the Volt comes with a 120-volt charge cord, which makes it easy to re-energize from any home outlet.

Included in the new model is a rear spoiler, all-season low-rolling resistance tires, 17-inch aluminum wheels, intermittent wipers with washers, and heated power-adjustable outside mirrors with turn-signal indicators.
